When people think of Cabo San Lucas history, they often jump straight to the marlin fishing boom of the 70s or the famous nightlife of downtown Cabo San Lucas during Spring Break. But for those of us living and working here, the "El Centro" of Cabo San Lucas is entering a new, more cultural era.
The team at Estudio Creativo recently joined fellow business leaders at a Los Cabos Business Association (Asociación de Empresarios de Los Cabos A.C.) meeting.
The goal?
Making sure the heart of our town is as vibrant for families and residents as it is for the spring break crowd.
Beyond the Beach and the Marina: The Cultural Revival
While the beaches and marina are world-famous, the Association is focusing on the "hidden gems" of the downtown core. We discussed how to better showcase the family-friendly side of Cabo San Lucas that often gets overlooked by the average tourist.
Plaza Amelia Wilkes: This isn't just a park; it's a historical anchor of the city, perfect for a quiet evening stroll.
The Museum of Baja California Sur: A must-visit for anyone wanting to understand the indigenous and maritime roots of the peninsula.
Regional Gastronomy: Moving the spotlight toward authentic artisan markets and traditional flavors.

Viva La Plaza and the 2026 Vision
One of the meeting’s highlights was the success of Viva La Plaza. If you haven’t been, it’s where the community comes alive on Sunday evenings with folkloric dance, local artisans, and food vendors.
Carlos Tinoco, President of the Supervisory Board, emphasized that with more cruise ship passengers arriving in 2026, the private sector and government must work together. At Estudio Creativo, we’re taking this "shared responsibility" to heart. As immigrants who have spent the last few years getting to know the rhythm of this town, we are proud to contribute our creative strategies to these community initiatives.
Key Takeaway: The 2026 season is about balance—blending world-class tourism with local cultural integrity.

Strengthening the "El Centro" Connection
Our role in the meeting was focused on how we can use our expertise to help bridge the gap between traditional Cabo San Lucas hospitality and the modern visitor’s expectations. We’re not just spectators of Los Cabos history; we are active partners in designing what the downtown experience looks like for the next generation.
Local Insider Tip: Keep an eye out for the upcoming folkloric dance schedules at Viva La Plaza in Amerlia Wilkes Parque —it’s one of the most authentic ways to see the "real" Cabo beyond the resort walls.
